LEGO City and Greater Manchester Fire Service join forces for safety campaign

Fire safety poster competition will see one child win the complete new LEGO City Fire range

LEGO City has partnered with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service on a fire-safety educational resource for primary school children.

The campaign has been created by PR agency Norton and Co and educational communications agency JazzyMedia and will create 60,000 activity sheets designed to help children stay safe in an emergency. 

“LEGO City connects with children looking to build and role-play scenes based on every-day, recognisable sights and people,” said Harry Harrison, LEGO City brand manager.

“The fire safety activity sheets for schools have been developed in order to reach younger children in a responsible and innovative fashion.’

Over 400 primary schools across the UK have received the sheets and the campaign has asked children to design a fire safety poster for their school.

The child with the winning poster will take home the complete new LEGO City Fire range for themselves and for their school, plus the chance of a visit from the GMFRS mascot, Cracker the Fire and Rescue Dog.

“We’re always looking for innovative ways to reach young children in Greater Manchester and help spread the message of fire safety,” added Chair of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority, Councillor David Acton.

“This partnership is a fantastic example of that and I’m sure these exercise sheets will really help our staff working with children in primary schools across Greater Manchester.”
