Lego becomes top 10 Superbrand

Lego is the most powerful toy brand according to the latest Superbrands survey.

The construction brand was placed at number eight in the latest Superbrands Top 500, its first appearance in the top ten, with Microsoft at number one. The Mattel-owned Fisher-Price was at number 24 and Hasbro's Monopoly at 44.

The 12th annual survey revealed the winners and losers during the economic downturn.

A list of about 1,400 brands was considered by a panel of experts, with more than 2,000 UK consumers taking part in a vote.

At number two was Rolex, while Google slipped two places to third.
