Jumbo Games has helped prevent a local playgroup from closing down by making a donation to the company.
Jumbo presented Mentmore Road Under-Fives in Leighton Buzzard with £250 and a selection of puzzles and games.
The playgroup opened in 1978 but has recently faced financial difficulties.
A spokesperson for the playgroup, Tammy Dickerson, added: “The donation from Jumbo really will make a difference to us going forward and it means we can concentrate on the children, which is what we’re here for.
“It’s great that such a large company still has links with the local community.”
Jumbo Games MD Gray Richmond added: “For us it seemed a very easy decision. Jumbo is all about playing people being happy people and where better for children to have fun than at such a lovely playgroup?
“It’s not fair that children suffer if a group like this had to close through lack of funds. When possible, it’s nice for local businesses to give something back to the children. We sponsored lollypop ladies for two local schools earlier this year when they didn’t have money to pay for them after funding was cut.
“We did it because we felt it was the right thing to do.”
