President and COO of Jakks, Stephen Berman, presented the cheque to American Red Cross CEO, Paul Schulz yesterday.

$27,000 was raised by Jakks employees, which was then matched by the company as part of the Jakks Cares giving programme.

The earthquake hit close to home for the firm as it has hundreds of employees based in China and many factory employees afiliated with the company.

The funds will be used to assist survivors through the purchase and distribution of relief supplies, coordination of logistics and transportation of disaster workers to the hardest hit areas.

Schulz said: "The American Red Cross is grateful for this show of support from Jakks Pacific. With the assistance of Jakks' latest gift, we are helping with the China earthquake relief and recovery efforts."
