Toy giant Mattel will attempt to pull off a world record shattering Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare at the X Games in Los Angeles.
It’s the latest world record stunt for the boys brand following last year’s longest ever distance jump in a four-wheeled vehicle. This became the most popular entertainment video on YouTube and was the most searched story on Google.
Now a grafity-defying two-driver double vertical loop attempt will take place at the X Games on June 30th. Two drivers will accelerate to 52mph to enter the six-story high loop, hitting 7 Gs as they go, which is the same force a fighter jet pilot experiences in mid-air.
Tenner Foust is representing Team Yellow, who will go up against Greg Tracy from Team Green. Foust completed the Hot Wheels world record attempt last year and Tracy is a Hollywood stuntman.
The new stunt will be broadcast on ABC and on ESPN’s international networks, as well as www.HotWheels.com. Consumers can also vote for the driver they think will finish first.
The world record attempt is modelled after the new Hot Wheels Double Dare Snare track set, which is available now at retail. It lets kids race their 1:64 scale Hot Wheels cars side-by-side in a vertical loop race.
Hot Wheels will also unveil 19 live action webisodes this year, where children can follow their favourite Team Hot Wheels drivers as they attempt stunts at the Hot Wheels Test Facility.
