Horrible Histories will take the boys collectables market by storm, says Worlds Apart.

The company's comments come after the CBeebies Horrible Histories TV show won a Children's BAFTA for Best Comedy.

Worlds Apart will launch the new Horrible Histories toys in spring 2013.

Lucy Wynn Jones, head of licensing at Worlds Apart, said: "This fantastic award further cements our confidence that Horrible Histories is going to take the boys collectibles market by storm.

"Funny, gory and fighting were the top three things that boys liked about Horrible Histories, and we believe we’ve successfully captured all three within the new toy range.

"This BAFTA recognition shows the huge importance of the humour angle and will continue as one of the most important considerations as we promote and further develop the range."

The Horrible Histories TV show is based on the popular books. Series five of the show will head to CBBC in 2013, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the books' first publication.

Worlds Apart is the master toy licensee for Horrible Histories.
