Hornby backs Bike With Jake

Hobby specialist sponsors boy who wants to become the first to cycle to every UK Olympic venue.

Hornby Hobbies is backing 12-year-old Jake Phipps who is riding from Glasgow all the way to London’s Olympic Stadium.

Phipps, from Worcestershire, set out on June 9thh and will reach the Olympic Stadium on July 18th. He wants to become the first person to cycle to every UK Olympic venue along the way.

He will travel 2,012km in 40 days to raise money for charities Action for Children and Access Sport.

Hornby has donated £1,000 to Phipps’ charities and is providing him with some kit to help him complete the challenge.

“It’s been a fantastic experience so far and we’ve met some amazing people,” said Phipps. “I’ve really enjoyed being out on the road, although it’s very hard work at times. 

“I am really pleased and excited because Hornby have given a fantastic donation to Access Sport and Action for Children, as well as giving me my lucky mascot Destination London 2012 taxi. Now I’m hoping that lots more people will donate money for the charities.”
