UK discounter B&M has been instructed to remove all counterfeit copies of its hit party game Pie Face from its shelves.

Hasbro issued the retailer with the order when it discovered that fake versions of the game had been available at B&M Bargains stores in the UK.

On Wednesday afternoon, B&M used its social media platform to inform a customer that the game had been withdrawn from shelves at the request of the supplier.

Hasbro later issued an official statement, confirming that it had been “made aware of counterfeit Pie Face product available at B&M Bargains stores in the UK.”

“These products have been withdrawn by B&M Bargains,” it read. “This withdrawal does not affect the genuine Hasbro Pie Face game, which continues to be available natiponwide. We advise all consumers with concerns about counterfeit Pie Face games purchased from B&M Bargains to contact B&M Bargains directly.”

News of Hasbro's action over B&M's stock of counterfeit goods arrives as the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) prepares to reveal the results of a report on the economic cost of IPR infringement in toys and games.
