Toy maker Hasbro has responded to calls from Star Wars fans across the globe, confirming that Rey will appear in a new edition of Star Wars Monopoly.

Recent weeks have seen the hashtag #WheresRey trend across social media, as legions of fans voiced their frustration that the latest film’s lead character had been missing from the newest Star Wars merchandise.

However, Hasbro revealed that the reason she was kept out of products such as the Monopoly game, the Millenium Falcon play-set and recent action figure lines was the company did not want to spoil Star Wars: The Force Awakens for fans.

In a tweet to the thousands asking #WheresRey, Hasbro applauded fans’ passion for the character before confirming that Rey will feature in a new edition of the Star Wars Monopoly later this year.

The current version of the game features Finn, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Hasbro issued a statement on Tuesday, January 5th saying Star Wars Monopoly didn’t feature Rey to “avoid revealing a key plot line that she takes on Kylo Ren and joins the Rebel Alliance.”

The company also stated that Rey – played by Daisy Ridley – already features in other Star Wars games including Hands Down, Guess Who and Chess.
