Hasbro celebrates Monopoly milestone with new products, entertainment and events

80th Anniversary Edition board games, digital formats, Monopoly themed TV shows and the Monopoly World Championships all celebrate the game's milestone this year.

Hasbro is celebrating eight decades of its popular Monopoly brand this year with a raft of new products, entertainment and events.

In celebration of the milestone birthday, Monopoly Gaming has already introduced the Monopoly 80th Anniversary Edition game, and is offering fans the chance to experience the vintage-styled game on a variety of digital formats.

Inspired by the retro look of the Anniversary Edition – featuring vintage-styled cards and money, along with wooden houses and hotels – the digital versions will be available for mobile, console and online through partnerships with Ubisoft and EA.

“After eight decades, the Monopoly game remains immensely popular around the world, and we are thrilled to celebrate this iconic anniversary with new and exciting Monopoly experiences,” said Jonathan Berkowitz, vice president of global marketing for gaming at Hasbro.

“We continue to listen to our fans to keep the Monopoly brand relevant for today and introduce new ways for fans of all ages to enjoy the brand.”

The game is also being brought to life with an upcoming weekly game show called Monopoly Millionaires Club and will air later this year on Game Show Network.

Topping the event roster, however, this year Monopoly fans from around the world will be brought together to celebrate the anniversary at the upcoming Monopoly World Championship event, scheduled for September 7th to 9th at The Venetian in Macao, China.
