Hamleys hosted a busy press event today to unveil its 2011 Christmas lists.

Out of the top ten, half are licensed products, including a nod to the latest Disney Pixar release - Cars 2 Fully Loaded McMissile; an update on the popular Sesame Street character - Rock On Elmo and the latest craze - Moshi Monsters Talking Plush.

Laura Olver, head of buying and planning at Hamleys, commented: "There are so many licensed toys in the top ten list, that we decided to include a film and TV list this year. Demand for licensed toys seems to be higher than ever this year."

Also notable in the lists is a number of higher price point items. Despite NPD figures showing recently that a surge in sales low-price collectables were driving revenue growth, Hamleys is still seeing larger items doing well. The firm also revealed a 'finest toys' list.

Included in the list is the Lego Ninjago Fire Temple at £116, Rock on Elmo at £100 and Furreal Cookie at £114.

Olver told ToyNews: "A few of the toys in our top ten are at the higher end of the price scale, but big ticket items do tend to do very well at Hamleys."

The event garnered widespread press coverage including The Telegraph with a video and a news story; The Guardian; The Metro and The Evening Standard, among others.
