Furby is finally back - and Hamleys held a special preview event to celebrate.

The retailer's flagship Regent Street store opened half an hour early yesterday (Sunday, September 23rd) at 11.30am to mark Furby's arrival.

Hamleys let eager consumers (including four year old Megan Lomax, pictured) play with the toy ahead of its official launch today.

The original Furby sold 40 million units worldwide after going on sale in the '90s.

Today it comes with a host of new digital-focused features, including a free app that the consumer can use to communicate with Furby.

Furby can 'learn' English - its vocabulary expands the more it is spoken to. It can also interact with other Furbys and reacts to touch.

Furby is also available in six colours - teal, purple, red, white, black and yellow - with four more due by the end of the year. It is priced at £59.99 RRP.

Hamleys was acquired by Groupe Ludendo last week.
