The first Generation Media KidsCon event has been hailed a “tremendous success,” and one that has set a precedent for the firm to follow in the years to come.

The conference covering the past, present and the future shape of the Children’s Media landscape has earned the company high praise from the toy industry attendees, including the likes of VTech and Panini.

Presentations from Giraffe Insights as well as The Screen and Youth Squads run alongside a number of panel discussions, including one with YouTube influencers to help attendees understand “how to cut through and talk to young people effectively,” as well as look at the trends and changes in the market.

Carla Laidler of VTech heralded the event as “an insightful and engaging day from Generation Media,” stating that VTech now “looks forward to coming to KIdsCon19.”

Jessica Bell of Panini, added: “Generation Media KidsCon18 event provided valuable insights into the children’s market, Generation Alpha in particular.

“The way in which children are consuming media is becoming increasingly fragmented and as a business we need to diversify and tailor our campaigns to bring them in line with the changing market. Events such as KidsCon are fundamental in aiding this process.”

Generation Media now begins making preparations for a “bigger and better KidsCon19,”

“Things are really changing,” said Lauren Coombs, deputy MD of Generation Media. “2017 and 2018 have seen double digit decline in the commercial impacts available to buy amongst kids’ TV stations and children continue to discover and consumer content on new devices and platforms.

“Generation Alpha, also known as the Glass Generation due to their fixation with screens, will grow up in a world with AI, virtual and augmented reality. While live TV viewing still currently has a prominent place in their viewing ritual, we must look to new ways of communicating with them.

“We have some great content from engaging speakers already shaping up for KidsCon19. We will be sharing more information on the next event next year, so keep your eyes peeled.”
