Justin Lin, the director of Fast & Furious and Star Trek Beyond, has signed a deal to develop, direct and produce a Hot Wheels movie.

Based on popular car toy line from Mattel, Hot Wheels will be Mattel's second big screen venture of recent times, following Max Steel, which opens in the US next month.

Also in development are movies based on Mattel's Masters of the Universe, Barbie and Monster High.

Legendary is now looking for a writer for the Hot Wheels movie, and as the film is in early development, it will not be Lin’s next movie, reports THR.
