Disney to ditch Narnia?

Disney puts pressure on box office performance of forthcoming Narnia sequel, rumours hint.
Publish date:

Rumours out of the US suggest that if this summer's Narnia sequel, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, doesn't match or improve on the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe's box office, Disney will nix the rest of its planned adaptations of the remaining C.S. Lewis books.

Sources also say that even if the plug is pulled on the full Narnia series, the studio will still complete the in-production third film of the series, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Hasbro holds the rights to the Narnia toy range.

It's believed Disney would replace it with a three-film adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' science fiction/fantasy classic, John Carter of Mars.
