Disney reveals Monsters, Inc sequel

Disney chairman reveals follow up to 2001 hit; new Muppets movie also planned.

Disney-Pixar is to make a sequel to the 2001 hit film Monsters, Inc it has been reported this morning.

Disney chairman Rich Ross revealed that the follow up will be released in November 2012. The original Monsters, Inc made more than $525 million worldwide, according to BBC News.

In addition, Pixar stablemate The Bear and the Bow is to be renamed Brave, and has been given a new release date of June 2012. Featuring the voices of Reese Witherspoon and Billy Connolly, Brave is the story of a Scottish princess who dreams of being archer.

Ross also confirmed that Disney is to make a new Muppets movie, plus a retelling of the Winnie the Pooh story using hand-drawn animation and a stop-motion cartoon based on a story by Tim Burton - Frankenweenie - are also planned.
