A toy collector’s haul of around 2,000 Dinky toys could fetch up to £250,000 when it hits auction this month.

Raymond Hainsworth, a 78-year-old toy fanatic from Skipton, has built up his hoard for over 50 years.

Among the toys heading to auction in the north of England in two weeks time is a black and white Dinky lorry in the Corn Products livery, valued at £5,000.

Another rare product is a French Dinky Baroclem Citroen van, which could make more than £4,000.

The collection ranges from Hornby, to English and French Dinky, Matchbox and Corgi among others.

Hainsworth, along with his wife Pat, built up the collection over the years, travelling to various auctions and fairs.

“Part of me is sad of course, but we have had a lot of pleasure from it so I am not upset it is going,” Hainsworth told BBC News.

The collection will go on sale at Vectis auction house in Thornaby, Teeside on March 17th.
