*** UPDATE 05/11/2012: Toy maker Wow Stuff has hinted that a Zingy toy could be released in 2013.

*UPDATE: EDF Energy has said it has no plans to make a Zingy toy... yet.

Fans of Zingy - the star of the current EDF Energy advertising campaign - are making calls for the flame-shaped robot to be made into an actual toy.

People have been flooding social media channels with requests for information on where to buy their very own Zingy, only to discover that the orange dancing bot is not yet a real product:

There is already a plethora of 'unofficial' Zingy merchandise available on Amazon.

But if some YouTube users are to be believed, EDF Energy's customer service department has been telling customers that it could yet make Zingy into a real toy to be sold through its online shop:

Wow Stuff CEO Richard North, who revealed that Zingy is made from similar technology as the company's My Keepon dancing robot, has told ToyNews that he has been asked to remain "tight lipped" on any potential developments, adding: "The PR has gone crazy over the EDF ad."

Crochet and Fimo fan-made tributes to Zingy, posted to the EDF Energy Twitter account.
