Cartamundi unveils its first lifestyle-brand playing cards for older audiences

Cartamundi has unveiled a trio of lifestyle-branded playing card decks aimed at an older audience.

Pitch Black, Death Poker and Calavera are aimed at the teenage and young adult market and retail for £3.99.

The Calavera deck references the vibrant colours and smiling skulls made from sugar or clay used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead, while Pitch Black goes for a minimalist approach, one that combines a deep black background with thin lines and geometrical shapes in either white or red.

Both decks are supported by and complement the Death Poker range, which uses ornate illustrations of skulls and jewels to striking effect.

"As an acknowledged leader in playing card design, we are thrilled to be blazing a new trail with the striking Pitch Black, Death Poker and Calavera decks, all of which are stylish and original," said Trudi Bishop, head of marketing and licensing at Cartamundi.

"In fact, they are as much design classics as they are very modern decks of cards."
