A Barbie doll that doubles up as a digital camera has hit UK shelves.

The Barbie Photo Fashion Doll – priced at £69.99 – features a 0.3 megapixel digital camera that lets kids take over 200 pictures (4MB worth). These can then be displayed on the Barbie doll’s LCD shirt screen, or shared with friends using the accompanied USB cable.

Users can also add over 30 photo effects and graphics, as well as activate a ‘slideshow’ mode that displays each image in sequence.

The 11.5-inch doll – complete with an internal rechargeable battery – has picked up several awards.

These include one of the Most Wanted Toys of 2012 at toy and influencer industry event Time to Play in New York, Best in Play 2012 from Parenting magazine and The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum award for most innovative, engaging new product of the year. It has also been mentioned in Target’s Top 20 Toy List for Christmas 2012.

Kids can upload pictures to their PC before sharing them on their own, or Barbie’s Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter pages.

Mattel’s UK boss Geoff Walker previously told ToyNews that 2012 is THE year for Barbie.
