Sekiguchi has appointed Bandai as the UK distributor of Monchhichi from 2015.

The firm will launch a new collection of Monchhichi characters in March 2015 and will back the brand with display material and in-store activity.

A PR campaign driven by social media will aim to find new fans as well as touching on th 'nostalgic appeal' of the doll.

“We are looking forward to working with Bandai and believe they are the perfect partner to help build greater brand awareness for Monchhichi and improve our distribution in the UK," said Christophe Millet, sales and marketing manager at Sekiguchi.

"With a new TV animation also in production, this is an exciting time for everyone involved in Monchhichi and we have every confidence that the British public are going to fall in love with our comforting characters all over again.”

Vicki Elmer, Bandai’s product manager for Monchhichi added: “We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to welcome such an iconic character into our brand portfolio for 2015.

"Our colleagues in France have seen excellent results with Monchhichi this year so we are excited about replicating that success and to growing the collection of beautiful characters during our partnership with Sekiguchi.”

Bandai will be showcasing the launch range for Monchhichi at Toy Fair in January and will be exhibiting for the first time at Spring Fair as well.
