Bananagrams Challenge engages 45,000 UK primary school teachers and pupils

More than 45,000 primary school teachers and pupils across the UK have gone bananas, taking part in the third annual Bananagrams Challenge.

Bananagrams Inc provided free resources to schools, allowing them to host Bananagrams tournaments up and down the country.

To celebrate the huge reception to the initiative, Bananagrams is asking for fans to cast their votes online for the UK 2018 Top Banana, supporting the UK’s educators that aided the campaign to success.

Bananagrams created the Challenge to help boost vocabulary and spelling skills in a fun and interactive way in schools and to celebrate teachers. The first 1500 schools that registered received a School Challenge Participation Kit worth £50 and the winning student will receive £1,000 for his or her school.

“Both helping to make learning fun and giving back to teachers are incredibly important to the Bananagrams family,” said Rena Nathanson, CEO, Bananagrams.

“Our educators work so hard and are under more stress than ever, the Challenge is our way to say ‘thank you’ and hopefully give them a fun turnkey way to engage their students, help the kids build relationships through ;lay and foster a strong sense of community school-wide.

“We have been blown away by the level of enthusiasm and creativity shown by all of the teachers involved in the Challenge, we have even spotted a few of them donning banana suits to the amusement of their kids – talk about dedication.”

Following the in-school play, teachers were asked to submit a short entry on what the Challenge meant to their students and school, highlighting their regional winner.
