Top Aussie toy distributor Modern Brands has added Wow Stuff’s Combat Creatures brand to its roster, which already includes the likes of Sylvanian Families and toys from VTech and Schliech.

The first wave of Attacknids products will be available in Australia and New Zealand from March 1st 2013.

As part of the deal Modern Brands will ‘duplicate’ Wow Stuff’s marketing strategy for Attacknids, including the retail Battle Arena roadshow and TV advertising campaign.

“The Combat Creatures brand is a phenomenon of the kind that makes or creates a new category and will benefit from our passion and investment,” said Simon Whitson, managing director of Modern Brands.

“On our last visit to Wow! Stuff’s headquarters in the UK we were pleasingly shocked with the level of technology incorporated into Attacknid. They have this team of ‘scientists’ dedicated to exploring and building what they term ‘the ultimate in battling robotics’. I haven’t seen such a well thought out brand and product plan in the toy industry for years.”

Jon Birch, global sales director at Wow Stuff, said: “Modern Brands has a proud commitment to servicing their customers with fantastic support and a dedicated sales team they have always strived to exceed expectations.

No better reward for their performance exists than for the second year running Modern Brands has been voted 2011 Major Toy Supplier of the Year by Toy and Hobby Retailer. That’s the type of quality international partner we are looking to join us as we build a unique and leading global brand that makes children go ‘WOW!’”
