Asobi has become the latest company to pledge support to the Toy & Game Inventors Workshop.

The traditional toy specialist joins Hasbro as a sponsor of the one-day conference and business networking event, which takes place at Rich Mix, Bethnal Green Road, London E1 on Monday, September 22nd.

"We were delighted when ToyNews asked us to participate in the Toy Inventor Workshop," said Thierry Bourret, founder and MD of Asobi. "It is a great initiative, set up by a forward thinking magazine and we feel honoured to be involved.

"Initiatives like this have been done in the past for designers at Liberty and Habitat, however with the ToyNews Toy & Games Inventor Workshop, there isn't the glare of cameras, taking off the pressure to get a product on board.

"We are currently working with a couple of inventors. In October we started working with PL-UG, which has since had phenomenal success and their den making kits are already listed in JLP, Amazon and TRU. PL-UG has even secured interest on an international level and is now also available in France and Australia, proving this inventor's vision has universal appeal.

"In addition to PL-UG, we will be previewing a new product from an inspiring inventor in September. We were introduced to this at Toy Fair and the prototypes are currently being made in China, so we are excited about the developments with this.

"Asobi is still a small company, so we are able to make decisions and run products we feel have potential very quickly."

In addition, the morning conference is taking shape and will provide valuable sessions on aspects including legal, toy safety, manufacturing, retail and marketing issues. In the afternoon, delegates will be given the chance to pitch their ideas and inventions to representatives from leading toy manufacturers and distributors, including Hasbro and Asobi.
