Yvolution has revealed it has won a patent infringement case in China to stop product copies of its well-known Y Fliker scooter.

In 2015, Yvolution began legal actions against a number of companies who were creating copies of the scooter.

The company came to an agreement this month with infringers Yilien and Aodi separately to cease production and supply and to pay compensation.

Fintan McDonald, CEO of Yvolution, said: “We are happy that the court system in China has been so supportive of our desire to protect our patent rights.

“We would like to thank Hogan Lovells for their contribution to this on-going fight against infringers. We are continuing to work with Hogan Lovells to enforce the seizure of copies of our products from factories and ports.

“It is very important to us not just to protect our products and our brand, but also to ensure that consumers are receiving the quality and safety they deserve.”

In addition, Yvolution is implementing a seize and desist policy on a global basis to help stop copies of their products being made.

"Working with our international legal team, we will prosecute any organisation that manufacturers, distributes or sells copies of our products, regardless of size or jurisdiction," McDonald added.

"This is only the start of the process for us, and we intend to actively pursue all legal avenues in order to protect our IP rights globally."
