What does the Woolly and Tig toy range consist of? And what are the RRPs?
The range of Woolly and Tig toys includes Woolly Soft Toy, Poseable Talking Woolly (pictured), Mix & Match Pairs Game, Scampering Woolly Pull Back and Jumbo Bedtime Snuggle Woolly with prices ranging from £3.99 – £19.99, so all very affordable.
When will the Woolly and Tig toys launch in the UK?
Woolly Soft Toy and Poseable Talking Woolly (pictured) will be the first to launch in May. The other products in the range will launch in July, so there’s only a gap of a few weeks before the full range is available.
What kind of demand have you seen for Woolly and Tig toys?
The demand from the public has been amazing and we’ve received a vast amount of enquiries from mums who are eager to get their hands on Woolly toys for their little ones which is really exciting. It really does herald great things for the range.
Why launch two months earlier than usual? Is there a chance you could launch before May?
Due to the huge demand we’ve had from the public we pushed ahead with an early launch to ensure we can get these into parents’ hands as soon as possible. If we could launch earlier we would but our lead-time has already been squeezed.
What toy is in demand the most – is it the standard plush?
As an exact replica of a character from the show, the Woolly Soft Toy is bound to be a favourite. However another that has also caught the retailer’s eye is Poseable Talking Woolly, which won an award at this year’s Toy Fair. The Poseable Woolly features popular phrases from the show and bendy legs, which opens up even more play patterns.
How much of a problem has it been seeing parents make their own toys and sell them on eBay?
The fact that people have been making their own Woolly toys is always a good sign that demand for Woolly is growing and he is becoming a firm favourite with parents. Now the launch of the official range is coming, parents will be able to get their hands on the real thing and of course benefit from the quality plush that Golden Bear is renowned for.
What was the reaction like at Toy Fair for the Woolly and Tig range?
Retailers had the same reaction as we did when we first saw the property at Brand Licensing; they fell in love with Woolly.
What are you doing to market the toys?
There is an extensive PR/ Marketing plan encompassing various media platforms that is underway ready for the initial launch in May. This will include competitions, blogging projects, retailer activity and working with our partners to promote the brand, together with an exciting social media campaign that will be revealed in due course!
There is lots of exciting activity ahead including the new TV series, the DVD launch in April and the launch of books this summer, as well as on-going support in Cbeebies magazine and a Woolly and Tig app that’s in development. All in all it looks like it’s going to be a great year for Woolly and Tig.
Why do you think Woolly and Tig has been such a success on TV?
Woolly and Tig is simply magical in its portrayal of a child’s social development and illustrates just how important toys can be for children, through Tig’s friendship with special toy companion Woolly. Tig is also delightful – even in person, everyone warms to her immediately.
