An international toy retailer has made its UK debut with the launch of a new store at Manchester Airport.

Wizz has been established in the United Arab Emirates with stores at Dubai Airport and Dubai Mall, chose Manchester Airport’s Terminal One departure lounge for its flagship UK branch.

The retailer also has sites in Australia and embarked on its first European launch in Dublin last year.

Nigel Caddick, managing director at Wizz, told the Manchester Evening News: “Manchester Airport is known as a world class facility with great links around the world and therefore seemed the ideal location for our fist UK store.

“The brand is well known in the UAE so passengers travelling with Emirates will identify with Wizz instantly.

“We are really excited to be here, and have been working closely with Manchester Airport over the last couple of weeks to get the shop open and running before the summer peak season.”

Caddick hopes that the new store is “just the start for us in the UK” with the aim to expand in other airports in the near future.
