Children just don’t care about celebrities like Cheryl Cole and Daniel Radcliffe – and here’s the proof.

Just four per cent of kids said they think Victoria Beckham is important, six per cent said pop singer Adele is important and eight per cent claimed Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is.

The majority of some 650 school children surveyed by ChildWise for Galt Toys said they instead think royals and politicians are far more important.

91 per cent of kids said the Queen is most important, with 53 per cent saying Prince William is and 45 per cent recognising the importance of prime minister David Cameron.

Galt Toys MD John McDonnell said: “Children aren’t as frivolous as adults fear them to be. Our findings show it’s good news for the Royals in Jubilee year with the Queen topping the importance poll by a significant margin and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in second and third place.”

The full list of famous people in order of importance to children is as follows:

- The Queen - 91 per cent
- Prince William - 53 per cent
- Duchess of Cambridge - 48 per cent
- David Cameron - 45 per cent
- Prince Charles - 25 per cent

- Simon Cowell - 20 per cent
