Paul Warner, owner of traditional indie toy store When I Was a Kid, has launched a video highlighting the importance of traditional toys.

To the tune of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Warner's 'Toyhemian Rhapsody' outlines his stance on tech toys, with lines like 'Is this a real toy? Is this just fantasy? Fed up with tech toys, No escape from the batteries.'

Warner posted the video along with the following letter:

Dear YouTube

Remember when you were a kid, that magical feeling when you walked into a toy shop, the sound, the smell, the colours... well we have that, right here and now. But without you support, that magic will fad and die to be replaced with wall to wall plastic and batteries.

We are one of only a few hundred truly independent toy shops left in the UK. Help us to stay that way by sharing my song.

Magically yours,
Paul. Wizard, Daddy & Owner. When I Was a Kid

Is it too simple to say traditional toys equal wholesome fun? Are tablets really turning our playgrounds into something resembling a primary school production of Night of the Living Dead? Can’t we just all get along?
