In the first of a new monthly feature with parenting website Mumsnet, ToyNews asked users about their plans for Christmas - including how much they'll spend, whether funds are tighter this year and if they would stretch the budget for a 'must-have' toy.

The survey found that parents are planning to spend an average of £112.51 on each of their children for Christmas.

48 per cent said they will be spending less this year.
