Voting begins for Designer Toy Awards 2012

Event will take place in New York on October 13th; over 20 categories revealed.

Voting is underway for this year’s Designer Toy Awards which kicks off in October.

The New York awards ceremony consists of over 20 categories (see below), with nominees including artists such as 64 Colors and Buff Monster. 

The Awards are a more specialist, cult take on the toy industry. For example, the nominees for Best Licensed Product are the Google Android robot by Andrew Bell, a Han Solo Mimobot by Mimoco, Millenium Falcon Cardreader by Mimoco, Street Fighter figures by Kidrobot and X Marvel Frenzies figures by Tokidoki. 

“The Designer Toy Awards celebrates the creativity, innovation and artistic excellence in the designer toy market, which after more than a decade has not only become a prominent and legitimate form of artistic and commercial expression, it is one of the leaders in global trendsetting,” read a statement.

“This award ceremony will celebrate the best of the industry’s artists, designers and brands, as well as honouring those involved in championing designer toys throughout the world.”

•Outstanding Production

•Best Customizer

•Best Mini Series

•Best Self Produced

•Best Collaboration

•Best Licensed Product

•Best Plush Design

•Best 1/6th Scale
