Vivid backs Turtles comeback

Vivid is gearing up for a major push on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand next year, with a new movie and TV series adding fresh impetus to the cult favourite.

The franchise returns to cinema screens this Easter with a brand new action-adventure movie from Warner Bros. A new 26-part TV series will air on GMTV/ITV titled TMNT- Fast Forward. Based in the future, it sees the Turtles do battle with a whole new set of enemies and Vivid will launch a new Fast Forward-themed toy line and TV promotion from August .

In January it will launch a complete new Turtles line-up that links in with the movie characters, vehicles play-sets and role-play toys . Supported by an 880 TVR campaign kicking off at February half-term and continuing all year.

There will also be a cross-promotion with a major high street restaurant chain at Easter.

Vivid boss, Nick Austin, said: "Vivid are thrilled to be involved again with Turtles and in particular with a cinema and TV combo which guarantees the property gets maximum eyeball count. Toy movies are very much back in vogue with the summer successes of Pirates of the Caribbean and Cars . With a major high street restaurant chain also on board at Easter there will be a huge buzz around the Turtles brand."

Older brands contribute to 4Kids dip

The recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles push may have given 4Kids a significant boost, but decreased performance from its more mature properties has meant that the firm recorded a net loss in the first quarter of 2007.
