A new type of remote-control toy that blends ground and air-based travel is close to entering production.

Billed as a "revolutionary new remote controlled hybrid car-helicopter" with a patent pending design, the product - known as B - is capable of driving across difficult terrain using its large rear drive wheels.

When the obstacles become too big, B can simply take off and fly over them.

Like the popular Parrot AR Drone 2.0, the B also has an HD camera that allows users to record their journeys.

B has already acquired £74,500 on crowdfunding website Kickstarter; £12,000 short of its £86,500 funding goal. It has 16 days left to hit the target.

"B is a toy that provides an extraordinary experience," read a statement. "B is virtually unstoppable, capable of transitioning between ground and air allowing the development of tricks otherwise impossible to achieve.

"Due to its large wheel diameter of 220mm, it achieves outstanding performance in difficult terrain. On flat surfaces B reaches high speeds."

Full details can be found on B's Kickstarter page.
