Upper Deck launches new store events

Upper Deck is holding more in-store Yu Gi Oh! events in tandem with Woolies.

After the success of the August 2007 half term Woolworth Duelist Leagues, Upper Deck is once again teaming up with Woolworths to bring Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game to selected stores across the UK.

Upper Deck has arranged for free demos of Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game to be run by specially trained demonstrators on selected days over the February school holidays.

Dates for each store have been specially selected to coincide with relevant school holiday dates around the store location. This will give children an opportunity to experience the product at any of the 50 stores participating in these retail events over a two-week period.

“These events are specifically created to appeal to young players and collectors of Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and we get also great feedback from parents who like this unique opportunity to see how children engage the product before they make the purchase decision. By running these workshop style events, children can learn to play and talk to our Yu-Gi-Oh! Experts about their cards. Like the August events, they can also take part in mini leagues with other children and experience Organised Play, which is important to the longevity of our game.” commented Natalie Taylor, Upper Deck’s marketing manager for Northern Europe.

There is also a chance for children to test their game skills with Challenge The Master at selected stores. These stores will have a tournament-level player for kids to challenge to a game of Yu-Gi-Oh!

As well as activities, free items such as branded posters and promotional Yu-Gi-Oh! cards will be given out at every event. Children can also get an Upper Deck membership card with a moving monster image on it by completing a Woolworths activity booklet on the game.

Upper Deck will also be demonstrating a new card game called Yo! The game is exclusive to Woolworths and features Marvel Heroes, Monster Jam cars, Dinosaurs and Horses. The game is all about bluffing and children will be shown how to play the game as well as take part in “Yo! themed” activities.

The free events will be held over 9th February – 24th February 2008. Special store posters will be advertising the events one week before they take place. A full press campaign will promote the events in local newspapers and kids press.
