Underground Toys has welcomed a new European sales director to its team.

Andrew Smith (pictured) has over 20 years experience handling licensed toys, novelties and gifts, having worked for firms including Zeon, Wesco and Matchbox.

He will join Underground Toys from early November, reporting to Andy Oddie and Kenny Penman.

Key focuses for the firm going forward will be the Star Wars and Marvel feature plush, for which Underground holds EMEA rights, Pop! Vinyl, WWE and Doctor Who.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most exciting companies in our industry," said Smith. "The ranges we have secured going into 2015/16 are unrivalled in terms of strength of licence and channel diversity.

"The Underground range is unique, offering multi-channel appeal - toy, gift, electronic, fashion, catalogue and gadget retail, both mass and specialty."
