Transformers film hits the target

The Transformers movie has posted record takings on its release in the US.

Gross movie sales in the first two full days of release were $29.1 million, the most ever on the July 4th holiday.

According to figures from box office tracking service Media By Numbers, the film has smashed the previous record set on Independence Day by Spiderman 2.

Viacom’s Paramount Pictures film took $8.8 million in advanced screenings on Monday 2nd July and then grossed $27.9 million the following night, putting it on target to break the $150 million cost barrier and then into profit.

The film is released in the UK on 27th July and Hasbro is the master toy licensee.
