Potentially dangerous Frozen merchandise has been seized in Devon due to deadly chemicals.

Devon and Somerset Trading Standards has taken hundreds of counterfeit toys that were on sale in Barnstaple and Ilfracombe, Devon, which included dresses and dolls.

Trading Standards has revealed that the dolls contained high levels of a plastic softening chemical known as phthalates, which can lead to an increased rick of asthma and cancer.

In addition, the dresses that have been seized were highly flammable.

Councillor Roger Croad, cabinet member at Devon County Council, said: “We are concerned children could be playing with these potentially dangerous dolls or wearing costumes which are highly flammable,” reports The Sun.

"We’re asking people to exercise caution when buying Frozen merchandise, and to look out for some of the tell-tale signs that could indicate a product is counterfeit; such as missing Disney logos on the labelling, a suspiciously low price, poor quality and labels that appear to have been poorly copied."

Since the seizure, authorities are investigating the matter and have released a warning to parents about buying counterfeit goods.
