TP Toys searches for brochure stars

TP Toys is running a consumer-based competition in a bid to encourage more children to play outside and find the faces of its 2009 brochure.

In a survey conducted by the firm, more than a third of parents admitted their kids spent less than two hours playing outside on an average weekend day. However, most children surveyed said their favourite activity was playing in the garden.

To try and encourage more outdoor play the firm is calling for entries into The Fresh Face of 2009 competition, with the winner taking away £1,000 worth of TP products and have their photo included in the firm’s catalogue.

To enter the competition, parents upload an image of their child playing outside, in order to capture the firm’s mission of Freedom to Play, to its website. Applicants must also describe in no more than 100 words why they think it’s important for children to play outside.

Nine regional winners will be announced from June 30th, when voting will commence. The photo with the most votes as at July 18th will be framed TP’s Fresh Face of 2009.

A spokesperson from the firm said: "From climbing frames to trampolines, giant swing sets to sandpits, 10ft pools and slides, there isn’t anything that TP hasn’t thought of when it comes to outdoor play. So anyone who feels as though their child knows the key to having fun outside, why not capture the moment and share it with us."
