Paul Lamond Games and John Barnes showed off an all new version of Subbuteo to press on the opening day of Toy Fair.

The redesign includes more detailed players with different shaped bases and a luxury playing pitch. There is an extended range of generic team strips and the England, Scotland and Ireland national teams will also be available.

Subbuteo sets will be available in UK stores from March 2012, retailing at around £39.95. The product will launch in Europe later.

Richard Wells, sales director at Paul Lamond Games said: "We are delighted to be bringing this classic game of table football back on to the pitch after it has been on the subs’ benches for so long.

"Subbuteo is such a strong and iconic brand which has been around since 1947 and it is fantastic to bringing back new and improved versions of the game in 2012. For many the new version will evoke nostalgia and rekindle the joys of childhood for many born in the 50s through to the 70s. Subbuteo is designed for ages eight upwards offering the perfect form of family entertainment."

Paul Lamond teamed up with Hasbro and table football specialists NiV to redevelop the game.
