Celebrity art expert and star of BBC’s Bargain Hunt Timothy Wonnacott unveiled a 5ft by 5ft mosaic recreation of Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe, made entirely from Galt Toys' art range at Toy Fair 2014.

Commissioned by the toy firm, the piece was created in the bid to raise money for the Toy Trust. The piece has gone on sale via an online auction running until Monday, January 27th.

Creator and UK contemporary artist Ed Chapman constructed the art piece using products from the Galt Art Jar, Fun Buttons, Cotton Reels and Mosaic Masterpieces kits, as well as a variety of paints, crayons, pens and craft kits from Galt.

The piece took over 100 hours to create.

John McDonnell, managing director at Galt Toys, said: “This iconic masterpiece has been created to show what can be achieved using Galt’s range of art and craft materials, and a little imagination.

"Being creative not only provides hours of entertainment, but is an important part of child development. We’re delighted to reveal this fantastic piece of contemporary art, which proves that the sky’s the limit when it comes to the incredible works of art that can be created using Galt’s products.”

Artist Ed Chapman, added: “Galt Toy’s art materials and craft kits are perfect to inspire youngsters into creating their own masterpieces and I hope this portrait encourages the next generation of child artists.”

Ed has previously made headlines for recreating portraits of famous figures, such as John Lennon, David Beckham and Barrack Obama, using everyday materials from coins and sugar cubes to vinyl records.
