Topps launches Match Attax indie promo

Trading card specialist Topps has launched a consumer incentive and retailer competition for indies.

Building on the popularity of its recently launched Official England Match Attax Trading Card Game; the incentive is designed to drive footfall into independent stores, largely in the news trade.

From the beginning of May, consumers will get the chance to claim a free limited edition Fernando Torres card at participating Independents, by attaching 10 Official England Match Attax wrappers to a leaflet, which they will pick up from their local store. Collectors then send the leaflet and wrappers to Topps to claim their free limited edition card.

As well as driving consumers to buy Official England Match Attax, retailers will have the chance to win a plasma TV and £150 off their wholesale bill for 100 lucky retailers.

All retailers have to do is promote the incentive and encourage consumers to send in their wrappers and leaflets. Each retailer will receive one entry to the prize draw for each leaflet that is received by Topps.

"Our Match Attax brand has been phenomenally successful over the last three years and now with this great incentive scheme we can really drive sales specifically in Independent stores.

"We have seen the success of SKU's that feature a Limited Edition card, such as our Match Attax Starter Pack, as well as the sales they have generated when cover mounted with a kids Magazine, therefore offering a Limited Edition card via the top selling 20,000 Independents really will motivate the estimated 1.3 million kids collecting England Match Attax to make their purchases at participating stores."

Packs of entry forms and special door posters communicating the offer will be distributed via News wholesale over the first week of May.
