Topps gears up for the World Cup

Firm to unveil two official England products this April, a TCG and a sticker collection.

Launching in time for the World Cup, Topps Match Attax Official England Trading Card Game includes 25 England players and the top players from the other 31 teams.

There are 297 cards to collect, including limited edition cards, man of the match cards, managers and the 100 Club cards. Packets of six cards at 50 pence, along with starter packs for £4.99.

Topps England 2010, Official England Sticker Collection, features all the latest statistics, profiles and facts on the England players. There are 448 stickers to collect, including glitters and pro-skill stickers.

All 32 qualifying teams are featured in the collection. Five sticker packets will retail at 40 pence and the 80 page album at £1.49.

The firm will be investing in nationwide promotions to support the ranges, including a cover mount campaign with a range of kids’ magazine titles and a £750,000 TV campaign.

Rod Pearson, marketing director at Topps Europe, said: “Our collectables continue to appeal to kids of all ages and with such excitement around this summer’s tournament we are anticipating our official England collections to be the talk of the playground.

“It’s important for retailers to get behind this product to maximise their share of sales, which they can do by taking full advantage of the POS materials available – making sure the display box is visible on the counter and using the free posters provided in display boxes.”
