Topps acquisition saga rumbles on

Special stockholder meeting set for August 30th.

Trading company Topps is to hold a special meeting of its stockholders on August 30th to vote on its proposed acquisition by Tornante Company LLC and Madison Dearborn Partners LLC.

Shareholders of record as of August 10th will be entitled to vote at the meeting, the company revealed in a statement.

Topps has already rejected a hostile bid from Upper Deck. It is now waiting for results of Upper Deck's latest filing with the Federal Trade Commission, the review for which is due to expire on August 3rd.

The battle to acquire trading card company Topps has taken a twist as Upper Deck and Topps shareholder Northwood Investors went legal against the company for allegedly breaching a confidentiality agreement.
