Consumers are being advised by Kent Police only to buy Scalextric products from approved retailers, after thieves made off with £170,000 worth of the model racing car sets.
An entire trailer containing 866 of the new Scalextric Digital sets were stolen from a lorry park near Detling Aerodrome last week. The £200 Scalextric Super GT race sets include an Aston Martin DBR9, a Porsche 911 GT3R and a Dodge Viper.
Detective Constable Catherine Baker, from Kent Police, said: "This was a planned operation and the offenders clearly targeted the trailer, knowing the high value of its contents, estimated collectively to be worth over £170,000.
"I advise consumers to be aware not to buy any of these Scalextric sets from anyone but an approved retailer."
