Gadget Show Live, the UK’s largest consumer technology event, has launched its annual search for the greatest of British inventors and inventions, the top 20 of whom will feature in the third British Inventors’ Project at next year’s show.

The British Inventors’ Project was launched in 2014 to shine a light on British innovation and give the country’s inventors a much-needed mainstream platform to present their ideas to the public and take their products one step closer to market.

“Over the past two years, we’ve been blown away by the quality and creativity of products shortlisted for the British Inventors’ Project, as well as the passion and ingenuity of the inventors behind them," said Gadget Show Live event director Sally Bent.

"We have featured everything from the Commuter X4 safety light for cyclists, which has gone on to sell in the thousands, to the beautiful, silver Hummingbird corkscrew.

“Two of last year’s entries – the heated butter knife and the Riutbag – were particularly successful in courting media attention. And we are, of course, especially proud of our winners: the life-changing Artificial Pancreas in 2014, which releases insulin to diabetics in precisely the correct dose at precisely the right time, and this year’s winner, the OmniO Rider, a lightweight stroller weighing just 5kg, which speedily transforms from a pushchair to a compact backpack.”

Jason Bradbury – Gadget Show presenter and frustrated hoverboard inventor – will crown the winner British Invention of the Year 2016 on the first day of Gadget Show Live 2016 and present them with a £1,000 cheque towards future product development.

The winner will also receive a commercial stand at Gadget Show Live 2017 worth £5,000 allowing them to showcase – and sell – their product to 80,000 ABC1 visitors.

All 20 shortlisted inventors will get to display their invention or innovation within the British Inventors’ Project feature area. Gadget Show Live will provide stand space, lighting and marketing support free of charge.

Entries to the British Inventors’ Project are open to UK residents whose invention/s will be at prototype stage but not in mass production at April 2016. The application form can be found here and entries close on January 29th, 2016.

The Gadget Show Live teamed with the Inventors Workshop back in September to give one attendee a place on next year's British Inventors' Project shortlist and we're delighted to reveal that Hannah Sage, the creator of Milo, secured the spot.

Tickets for Gadget Show Live are on sale now at www.gadgetshowlive.net.
