Toy companies are to be given a chance to get key feedback and reaction to their latest products during a special playtesting event with dozens of children, organised by ToyNews contributor and industry veteran, Steve Reece.

The Big Play Day will take place in Guildford on Wednesday August 15th, between 2pm and 4.30pm.

There are spaces available for just eight companies, who will be booked in on a first come, first served basis.

Reece - who holds two market research qualifications, including the Market Research Society Certificate (with Disctinction) - previously spent time as Hasbro's in-house toy playtester some years ago.

"It always amazes me how little consumer research toy companies conduct, especially when the cost and risk of launching a new toy line runs into the hundreds and thousands of pounds," he said. "Very often I've found that testing new concepts with kids early enough can nail duds before too much money has been spent, turn average performers into heroes and generally reduce risk of launch failure - while also providing direction on design tweaks and key marketing messages."
