Tesco ramps up price war

Tesco has stoked the Christmas price war, lopping 25 per cent off a number of leading toy lines.

The campaign is being backed with full-page adverts in the national press and includes all Fisher-Price and Vtech toys, Barbie and Bratz, Spiderman and Power Rangers, Mega Bloks, Magnetix, Cars, Shrek Thomas and Friends, Fur-Real and Lego.

There is also a 3 for 2 offer on MB and Parker games and online the store is offering free delivery on orders over £75 through Tesco Direct.

Hornby on the up

Hornby has reported a 15 per cent increase in sales to £45m for the year to the end of March, with pre-tax profits up 16 per cent to £7.5m.
