The team is getting ready for their second leg of the challenge, which is to take place on bank holiday Monday May 7th at Castle Combe.

Teammates Adrian Norman and Patrick Mortimer will be taking on 28 other drivers to continue on the success of their last race at Silverstone in April.

Adrian Norman, finished in tenth place with 21 points and a best lap time of two minutes, 52 seconds in the first instalment.

Patrick Mortimer, nicknamed The Rainmaster because of his ability in wet conditions, will race alongside Norman in the JCW Class in his Mini Cooper S JWC. The team is hoping that these skills will give them an advantage over the competition because of the recent rainfall.

Marketing manager at Scalextric, Paul Chandler, commented: “As marketers, we constantly strive to bring our brands ‘to life’ somehow. For Scalextric, creating ‘Team Scalextric’ was the perfect solution.

“Everyone at Hornby supports Team Scalextric and fans of the brand around the world are following the team’s progress. The level of interest in the campaign has already stretched far beyond our expectations.”

The race at Castle Combe will be screened live on Motors TV (Sky channel 413) on Monday May 7th at 13:25 and 14:10. It will also be covered on Facebook/Scalextric and Twitter @Scalextric #Teamscalextric
