Following what it has billed a ‘phenomenal’ year, Spin Master has regained its spot as the number one RC brand I the UK according to NPD results.

The most recent data from the research group has confirmed that Air Hogs has seen an uplift of 29 per cent year on year, finishing 2017 with a nine per cent share of the total UK RC category.

Air Hogs Thunder Trax was the number one item, followed by Hyper Drift Drone at number four, DR1 Micro Race Drone at number five and the DR1 FPV Race Drone at number six.

According to the firm, all of the new 2017 Air Hogs lines that were TV advertised featured in the top ten 2017 RC items.

The DR1 Micro Race Drone also received a late boost in December with a strong feature in Philip Schofield’s Christmas TV programme, How to Spend it well at Christmas, during which Schofield included the drone as the number one of his Christmas Stocking Top Three.

‘The impact was phenomenal and saw the last remaining stock sell out over night,’ reports the firm.

Air Hogs senior brand manager, Ranjit Dhutti, said: “We were aware that we had a phenomenally strong product line up for 2017 but the success has surpassed our expectation. Thuder Trax is without doubt one of the most exciting RC vehicles to be launched for some time, living up to expectation – and then some.”

Spin Master’s Hedley Barnes, added: “The results are simply amazing. At the beginning of the year we were hopeful of the opportunity to push towards being brand leader once again, but we are absolutely thrilled to see such a quick and solid turnaround.

“We would like to acknowledge and thank all the retailers who really got behind the brand last year. We are now excited for 2018 launches such as Air Hogs Super Nova and Air Hogs Extreme Air Board which were very well received at Toy Fair.”
