Robotics firm Sphero has unveiled a special edition version of its smash hit BB-8 toy.

The Battle-Worn BB-8 App-Enabled Droid toy features movie-replica deco, drawing inspiration directly from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Elsewhere, Sphero detailed its latest creation, the Force Band.

The Force Band attaches to the wrist and allows budding Jedis to operate the BB-8 toy using arm motion gestures.

“Branching out of app-enabled robotics and into new categories that enhance play patterns and user experience has always been our goal,” said Paul Berberian, CEO.

“We continue to broaden the realm of what's possible when it comes to robotics and as a result are able to deepen the connection between user and the app-enabled BB-8 Droid product. The introduction of our first gesture based wearable is a major milestone for Sphero.”

The special edition BB-8 app-enabled Droid toy and Sphero's Force Band will be available from autumn 2016 at retailers globally.
